With its central location in the heart of the city and its unique character, Brighton Town Hall is one of the best places to have a registry wedding ceremony in Brighton. It’s just a short walk from the beach and close to loads of cool restaurants and pubs which are perfect for a post ceremony celebration with friends and family. I’ve shared some of my favourites below.
The Town Hall is a Grade 1 listed building with giant ionic columns and three different ceremony rooms that can accommodate weddings of different sizes (details below). All rooms are gorgeous with original features such as carved chairs and leather inlaid desks. As a Brighton wedding photographer I’ve been lucky enough to capture many ceremonies here with different couples, always enjoying the diversity of each wedding and the proximity to cool graffiti streets and the beach.

Useful information if you plan to get married at Brighton Town Hall

How much does a Brighton Town hall ceremony cost?

Ceremony prices generally start from around £320 for a weekday ceremony in the Regency Suite, making it one of the most affordable wedding options in Brighton. If you’re planning a larger guest list, the Council Chamber starts from around £740 on weekdays and offers a much grander space. For couples who want something a little different, approved wedding venues in Brighton and Hove (such as pubs, hotels and restaurants) usually start from £600+ for the ceremony fee, depending on the venue and day.
Prices change for weekends and bank holiday ceremonies so it’s always best to check directly here with Brighton & Hove Ceremonies for the most up-to-date costs.
All Brighton Town Hall fees include ceremony room of choice, two registrars, two statutory marriage certificates and a unique Brighton and Hove celebratory certificate.

How can you book your Ceremony/ civil partnership here?

Booking a room at Brighton Town Hall is handled by the Ceremonies Team via phone only at 01273 292 016. You’ll need to arrange and pay for your booking in advance (especially popular dates) and if you’re having a legal marriage/ civil partnership there you’ll also have to give notice of your intention to marry at least 29 days before your ceremony or registration can take place and up to 12 months in advance.
My tip as a wedding photographer? Book your ceremony first, then your photographer, then everything else falls into place.

Where can you park at Brighton Town Hall?
Let’s be honest, parking in central Brighton is never dreamy. There’s no on-site parking at Brighton Town Hall. Drop-offs are possible, but guests will need to park elsewhere such as nearby car parks and pre-booked spaces (JustPark is your friend).
If you’re wearing wedding outfits, I always recommend Taxi or Uber drop-off and definitely allowing extra time (Brighton traffic is… unpredictable).
Brighton Station is about a 15-minute walk, and buses stop nearby, so it’s very accessible without a car.
Which Room should you pick for your Brighton TOwn Hall wedding?
The Regency Room
Regency room is part of the Regency Suite on the ground floor with big doors that open straight out into Bartholomew square outside the Town Hall, perfect for confetti shots! It's elegant but not intimidating, with warm golden tones, big windows and lovely chandeliers. It's light and joyful, perfect for both intimate weddings and moderately sized celebrations. And as a personal note, this is where I got married myself in 2021 and it was perfect! So I always love coming back here.
Classic Brighton Elegance
Capacity: up to 46 seated guests

If you’re dreaming of a wedding with a bit of gravitas and room for your full guest list, the Council Chamber might be your pick. Up on the second floor, it’s the biggest and one of the most characterful spaces in the building. The oak-panelled walls, carved chairs and traditional décor give it a stately, almost cinematic atmosphere. I always love this room as it has so much to offer and it makes you feel like a part of history. As your guests go up the stairs to the second floor it adds a feeling of mystery to the day, building up anticipation. There is a small room next to the council chamber where you can take a few moments before and after the ceremony too.

The Floral Room is part of the Recency suite on the ground floor. It's soft, romantic and quietly charming, making it ideal for elopements and very small Brighton Town Hall weddings. It's the kind of place that whispers rather than shouts, for weddings where the vibe is “just us, no big performance”. The floral paintings, the big mirror and the antique chairs (they belonged to Queen Victoria and that's why they're a bit low) create a lovely backdrop. Plus the natural light is kind and flattering.

Capacity: up to 4 seated guests

The Fitzherbert Room is the third room part of the Recency suite, nestled in between The Floral Room and The Regency Room. It's another ceremony room ideal for more intimate weddings and it's been recently updated. It's tiny, stylish and full of personality, with added softness from the big windows light. The green walls with golden accents, the stunning heart-shaped Venetian mirror and the gallery wall make quite the statement. It also features decorative antique chinoiserie furniture on generous loan from Brighton Museum and Art Gallery.
